We developed a working model that allows the current and future teams at FJ Engineering to understand the importance of attention to detail by highlighting that a good engineer is one that puts in as much time as they do pride into their work. This enriches the company with a culture of creativity and in turn, nurtures the creativity within the designers. Here at FJ Engineering, we embrace the unique approach of structuring engineering with passion, dedication, and appreciation. Everything done here is done as a community. Francisco

Senior Principal

For owner and founder, Francisco J. Garcia, FJ Engineering and Design is more than a business: it is a commitment to providing a quality product through innovation supported by years of experience. With an extensive, hands-on curriculum at California State University Los Angeles, Garcia developed an effective yet unique engineering perspective based on real-life applications.

First-hand work experience allowed Garcia to develop and successfully open his own business. The construction boom of the early 2000s exposed Garcia to a wide range of projects where he worked alongside, and with, different engineering firms. Working directly in the field with experienced personnel gave Garcia a unique learning experience, during which time, his own calculation and drafting standards began to take shape.

Francisco’s knack for attention to detail has been the pillar of his business approach. Clients soon took notice of the absence of setbacks and faster approval times when working with Garcia which has led to a large pool of regular clients. With the philosophy of getting things done right the first time, Garcia prides himself in addressing issues and concerns before they become problems and setbacks. While specializing in structural design, they also have excellent connections with firms and colleagues in other disciplines in the industry. The FJ Engineering team and their associates will guide you through the entire process of your project.

Garcia’s experience includes engineering and managing hundreds of projects. Despite his busy work schedule, Garcia remains active with student chapters in the UC and Cal State system and served on the Board of Directors of the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California.

Pedro

Staff Engineer

Pedro De La Hoya’s structural exposure through out the years as well as his high level of attention to detail is what has allowed FJ Engineering to maintain the quality products we offer to our clients. His experience in engineering derives from an early exposure during his high school days at Bosco Tech in Rosemead. Pedro is currently completing his studies in Civil Engineering. On Pedro’s free time he practices all types of extreme sports, ranging from mountain biking, Go-Kart racing and even some hiking.

Kevin

Project Engineer

Kevin Chavez graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2021. Receiving a B.S in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering. Kevin currently holds his EIT certification and is focusing in taking his PE Exam. He has related course work in statics, mechanics of materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design. On Kevin’s free time he likes to hike.

Francisco and his team are the best engineers I've had the pleasure of working with. I am a contractor who specializes in luxury construction, and need somebody who can keep up. During the pandemic I wanted to make sure I supported a local business, and I am so glad we chose FJ Engineering. They have surpassed all our expectations. From their very first inspection, they were thorough and professional. You can tell that FJ has a lot of experience and seems to really enjoy his job. He is proactive in asking the questions he needs the answers to and is very communicative about what he is looking for and what that means for your project. During his initial consultation, he is trying to solve the puzzle of how your house is supported. Once he had that sorted out, he then gave us all our options to accomplish what we had communicated were our goals. The verbal consultation was what we needed to know we were on the right path and from there we asked them to draft up the structural engineering plans we needed. Even though our project has been a complicated remodeling with the city asking for several rounds of revisions, FJ and his team have been diligent, accessible and so easy to work with. When there have been decisions that need to be made, his team has provided illustrations that made it very easy to know what was being asked of us. Finally, I just want to commend FJ and the team of professionals he has assembled. The quality of work is exceptional but it is his team's approachability, kindness and generosity that are central to their work ethic that make them a pleasure to work with. I'm very glad we went with FJ Engineering.

Francisco, Vivian and his entire crew of engineers are a wonderful resource for my busy interior design firm. They are thoughtful in their approach to structural design, working diligently and expertly to find solutions that work with the interior and architectural design and provide cost effective solutions and options. Francisco does an incredibly thorough site survey that includes pictures and mapping that allow us flexibility in determining pathways forward as we design the interior spaces. He is responsive via emails and his level of professionalism extends to the whole staff. He has been welcoming to me as a collaborator and I have enjoyed working with him over several projects. Francisco and team where very helpful even before we signed an agreement, he spent a lot of time and shared a lot of information. Once we hired him to come out and check the damage then draw plans, to replace a damaged support beam, his team was prompt and friendly and he was very helpful guiding us through the repairs. I really appreciated getting an unbiased opinion since all the other construction companies all had ideas of the repair but none would give me the full picture, I 100% recommend you get someone unbiased like Francisco and FJ to make sure you are making the right decisions and safe ones. really appreciate all the guidance thanks.

I reached out to FJ looking for an architect but they only do engineering work so I asked if they had any referrals or preferred architects they like to partner with and the Office Administrator, Vivian, was so kind to offer referrals. She said she would email me a referral directly and she actually did! It is so rare to find people who follow up timely on such a small task too. I really appreciated her time and effort as I was struggling to find architects or even a reliable contact for architectural work.

I recently opened up a new storefront and needed some calculations done for city permit approval. My project was very small, but required by the city, and no engineers I contacted could be bothered to help me until I came across FJ Engineering. Not only did Francisco listen to what I needed but he took me seriously even though the job was well below his skill level. Throughout the whole frustrating process with the city this company made me feel at ease knowing the job would get done.
