Does FJ Engineering provide Architectural plans?

Unfortunately, we don’t offer architectural services. At FJ Engineering we only specialize in the structural components of a project. Even though we are not able to offer this service, we could gladly refer architects and designers upon request; feel free to email us at info@fjengineering.com with a brief description of the intended idea.

What is the best way to get in contact with FJ Engineering?

There are three ways to reach us. You can call us at (626) 548-3874 use the general inquiry form on our contact page, or by emailing us directly at info@fjengineering.com . The more information you provide about your project. The better we will be able to assist you.

Is FJ Engineering a contractor?

FJ Engineering is not a contractor; neither can offer nor perform services about any type of construction. We are licensed professional engineers; we generate structural plans which contractors use to build.

How much does FJ Engineering charge for their service?

Although a small number of our services have a fixed cost, Our structural service fee is contingent upon a variety of factors. As a result, we seek an architectural plan before generating a structural proposal. Feel free to reach out using our contact form to get more information.

Does FJ Engineering perform field inspections?

Field Inspections are only 5% of our annual business. Therefore we scarcely perform inspections and are only done on a case-by-case basis. Normally, this only occurs when it requires in-depth structural evaluation. Aside from those limited scenarios, FJ Engineering doesn’t perform general site inspections. But when we do they are strictly verbal, with no written report.

What do I need to obtain a structural quote for my project?

In order to accurately develop a structural quote, we need to review the architectural plan (PDF preferably) showing the following.

For new construction: A dimensioned floor plan/s, roof plan, and at least one elevation.

For an addition: Existing dwelling layout with dimensions, dimensioned floor plan indicating new addition. A roof plan showing existing conditions, as well the proposed roof for the addition. At least one elevation indicating existing and addition heights.

For an interior remodels: Existing floor plan with dimensions, as well as a dimensioned floor plan indicating areas being altered.

Feel free to email us at info@fjengineering.com with a brief description of the scope of work.

What type of projects has FJ Engineering worked on?

In the lapse of 15 years designing hundreds of projects; FJ Engineering has calculated an array of simple to more complex projects ranging in the residential, multifamily, commercial and industrial sectors. Something as simple as a window awning, auditorium speaker support, solar panel anchorage; to a bit more unusual designs like support for satellite antennas, anchorage of 5000-gallon industrial mixers, a 2 story eight segment modular home. Customary projects include wall removals, interior remodels, additions, 1, 2 or 3 story dwellings. We’ve also worked on seismic anchorage, soft-story retrofits, retaining walls, permanent shoring, and multifamily dwellings. We’ve done structural plans to upgrade unreinforced Masonry, tilt-up and wood post and beam commercial buildings. FJ Engineering has seen it all. You name it, we’ve designed it.

What other services does FJ Engineering offer other than structural engineering?

FJ Engineering focuses 100% on structural calculations and structural plans. Anything other than structural engineering, such as but not limited to architectural, geotechnical, grading, drainage plans, surveying and/or construction, unfortunately, FJ Engineering is not able to assist.
